I have never liked Robert Reich but after seeing a couple of his posts, I looked at his profile and scrolled down.
The SOB is absolutely right on ... everything!

The only issue I have with those that manage Robert Reich's account, as I doubt he does it personally. Is that despite many users suggesting that it would be a great courtesy to include alt text for the visually impaired this request goes unanswered.
I suspect it is just a bot account.

All things cannot be all things to everyone. For instance, I am badly allergic to peanuts, yet I would not want Reese's to change their cup formula so us, who are peanut challenged, could enjoy them too! I am sure that the internet and social media can still be greatly enjoyed without "alt text" on pictures .... much as I, and many others enjoy chocolate without peanut butter.

I am not going to disagree with you on the fact that all things are not meant for all people. Yet I find your correlation a bit dubious.
Consider this please.
Removing an ingredient from a product would dramatically change the product and its target market. Yet, how does adding a few lines of code to your bot to add alt text to your image change the end product? You have just increased your market footprint by including the visually impaired and in no way effected your target market place.
Am I off base on this? Am I not seeing the full picture 😉 (pun intended)? My friend I believe you have made a false correlation between the Reese's Cups and the use of alt text on internet images.
I respect your right to have a different opinion.

in reply to Unus Nemo • • •@unusnemo Unus, we must disagree on other issues as well and my correlation to my allergy was an attempt to show a different perspective of the issue, not supply an absolutely accurate parallel..
Suggesting that anyone is DISCOURTEOUS (your word) because they fail to add "alt text" to their pictures seems a bit harsh.
I am also somewhat visually impaired due to age, not blind, and personally take expense and extra steps to help where necessary. I sometimes actually download images to enlarge or define meaning, meaning that "alt text" could not possibly explain.
I do not supply "alt text" and it's because it's unrealistic to expect that my description would be sufficient!
I am also a humanitarian, amateur philosopher, and love to play chess. I am just being me, I don't disparage others for not being who they are EXCEPT TRUMP!
Here is an example of what I am trying to say ...

All is fine, I have already accepted that in life we will have disagreement though that does not mean we cannot be be civil, and even friends. I enjoy reading your posts and what you share.
