Museums have tons of data, and AI could make it more accessible − but standardizing and organizing it across fields won’t be easy
Every field has its own standard for what data gets recorded for specimens archived in a museum collection, which can make research difficult. The Conversation
Congress shall make a law that no malignant psychopath shall be eligible to hold any public office under the United States.
It would be the appropriate vaccine against rampant assholism. 😎✌

I keep seeing pearl clutching posts about this cloud flare blog, and I'm not sure I really get it, tbh?
blog.cloudflare.com/password-r…
Are people just realizing the scale of access that a reverse proxy has to traffick it handles? Because, um, this doesn't seem notable to me. Like, sure, absolutely stop using cloud flare. It's run by absolutely garbage human beings. But if you've already decided to let a third party terminate your TLS connections, then this is the kind of thing they can and will do. If fastly or bunny or whoever doesn't do this kind of inspection and analysis, it's only because they don't think they can productize it, not because they're unable or unwilling to do so.
Password reuse is rampant: nearly half of observed user logins are compromised
Nearly half of observed login attempts across websites protected by Cloudflare involved leaked credentials. The pervasive issue of password reuse is enabling automated bot attacks and account takeovers on a massive scale. The Cloudflare Blog
That is rich.
If there is a CDN, then the CDN can collect the creds and leak them later.

More than a quarter of computer-programming jobs just vanished.
Learning to code was supposedly the salvation of millions of liberal art majors.
But now programming jobs are plummeting.

“What if we put solar panels on every roof in the world?”
Johanna Wagstaffe, Meteorologist and Seismologist for the CBC, is truly a woman after my own heart because this is exactly the dorky kind of back-of-the-napkin exercise I stay up into the wee hours of the morning figuring out. And she found a study were scientists actually did the calculations for real and turns out, it would make a real measurable impact.
We need to do this maybe not on every roof, but certainly on every roof that makes sense in every town, city and village in the world.

The Anti-DEI Agenda Is Reprogramming America
President Trump’s anti-DEI playbook doesn’t just affect the makeup of America’s workplaces. It also impacts cultural production. Just ask Netflix’s former head of diversity.

Sadly it won't stop the majority still buying into these trash devices. But hopefully something good will come from more people not using them.

“Running down these definitions brings us to a particularly tempting peril for programmers: making sense of laws feels like diving into a codebase. We’re dereferencing terms to build up definitions and chaining the predicates into a state machine we can run in our heads against our situation.
But programmers are bad at playing lawyers because the law works very differently than code.”

The image depicts a cowboy riding a horse in a snowy landscape. The cowboy is wearing a white cowboy hat with a fur trim, a tan coat with a fur collar, and white gloves. He is holding a revolver in his right hand, which is holstered on his right hip. The horse has a thick, white fur tail and is equipped with a saddle and reins. In the background, a herd of cattle, including a prominent bull with large horns, is visible, suggesting a cattle drive. The sky is overcast, and the ground is covered in snow, indicating a cold environment. The painting style is realistic, with attention to detail in the textures of the clothing, the horse, and the landscape. The artist's signature, "Walter Pott," is visible in the bottom left corner of the image.
