"In his own twisted way, Donald Trump has become a unifying figure. He’s more politically divisive than ever, but his outright attacks on liberal democracy everywhere have managed to rally America’s traditional allies against a common threat — one he sees when he looks in the mirror."

A dire warning for everyone in the “LGB” part who thought they could keep themselves safe from the fash by throwing “TQIA+” under the bus:

Something that makes fascism a particularly pernicious form of authoritarianism is that it doesn’t just need the population crushed and subservient; it needs to •keep actively destroying• whole subsets of the population in order to stay alive.
Fascism is a fire. Its fuel is the othering of minority groups; its oxygen is fear. It will keep finding — creating, if necessary — more and more “others,” without limit. Unless you cut off that oxygen or that fuel, it will keep on burning until there’s nobody left.
HEREs THE THING, centuries old alarm bells came to a head in 2024:
1. the attacks on the 1st Black woman president of Harvard
2. the attacks on students protesting genocide
3. the state-sponsored murder of WHITE WOMEN in need of abortions
but what distinguishes these attacks on trans folks is that #techbros & #MAGA are saying TRANS WHITE CHILDREN DESERVE TO DIE, not to transition into healthy, out and proud lives.
Musk wants his trans daugter dead.

Hello EU people:
There is an EU citizen petition to ban the use of "conversion therapy" on LGBTQ+ folks (i.e., trying to de-LGBTQ us— a process often described as "torture"). If you're interested, you can sign it here:
eci.ec.europa.eu/043/public/#/…
Please especially take note if you are a national of Spain, Slovenia, Belgium, or the Netherlands; the petition needs about 5x as many votes as it has now, but also needs to hit a threshold in four additional countries, and those are the four closest.

Following orders is generally a fine defense, as long as your government doesn't lose a war.
In the 1940s, there was millions of American and Soviet men who were prepared to die to ensure that the German government did lose.
Nowadays, "Soviet" men are fighting in Ukraine, and American military age men are the ones joining ICE.
Modern "Nuremberg Trials" are a theoretical imaginary concept.

The image shows a digital illustration of a character with fair skin, pointed ears, and white hair. Two brown horns curve upwards from their head. They have dark eyebrows, purple markings under their eyes, and a slight smirk. They are wearing a dark blue and black outfit with teal accents. The character is holding a curved blade in their right hand. The background is a bright white with some light blue and pink shading. The signature "ZARORY" is visible in the bottom right corner.

Alan, you get a follow for low-key hating on America (as an American, I'm hating on us too) and for apologizing, and being kind/Canadian in both efforts. Cheers.

@dicenbuttons I don't think many people thought it through to the Russian asset point. I think it was mostly sexism, then racism (both toward Harris and the whole "immigrant" thing), and then gullibility to propaganda and misinformation.
I'm fine with Americans as people. Hell I'm even related to some of them. But if anyone supports the idea that the US should annex us, they can expect big trouble in response.
