…2 people familiar w/the matter identified the suspect being sought as 57-year-old Vance Boelter. The people could not publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation & spoke to AP on condition of anonymity.

…Ofcls say both #MelissaHortman & #JohnHoffman were mentioned in the suspect’s writings.

Note from Minnesota on fb. #ProgLibs vote #GOP too @AnneTheWriter1. Shooter appeared to target her for her abortion votes, but that doesn't mean much PROGRESSIVELY, b/c identity politics matters. An overarching analysis doesn't.

In case it changes anything... It will probably come as no shock to hear that his roommate said the shooter was a Trump voter.

It also will probably not shock anyone to hear that the roommate (he rented a house with some guy, even though he was married🤔) thought it was perfectly normal for someone to have body armor and multiple high-power guns, because "men do that kind of stuff." (Personally, I know of no males who own body armor & mult. high-powered weapons.)

At the time of this writing, police are investigating an area where his large cowboy hat was found sitting on the edge of the road. The hat's location is about midway between the last shooting and his rental home.

The roommate is also saying that the online security company was never real, and that the shooter never really traveled to have all the experience he claims on his website.

According to his manifesto, his main issue was abortion, so I doubt he cared how they voted on a health care bill-- unless it allowed more access to abortions.

This chart shows that the #Minnesota state legislature is precariously balanced. The loss of one state Congressmember from each-- state House and Senate-- could leave the Republicans able to pass some very partisan legislation

Interestingly, the shooter targeted one Representative from each

My other thought-- and this is just my own theory, not anyone else's deep analysis-- is that by targeting districts where the Representatives flipped votes on various topics, he might have hoped to trigger a special election and get a Republican to replace them, if the districts were "purple" enough. (I'm not familiar with the voting patterns of the general public in those districts, so I can't say if my theory holds any water.)

But who knows what really goes on in the mind of a political assassin. John Wilkes Booth believed he was restarting the Civil War, but all he ended up doing was putting a nail in the coffin of the Confederacy and unifying much of the nation. The man who shot Reagan thought he would get a movie star to fall in love with him.

Lone assassins don't tend to be great strategists.
