There is a new weather pattern emerging here in New England, which I have seen for each of the past four years: A late cool wet spring, a “normal” summer (which most folks do not have), and a drought in late summer and early fall. We have had only one precipitation event in 8 weeks (though it was 2 inches). Winter will be mild.
@tomgrzybow Ya, that is odd for New England, more famous for its deep snows during the winter, which one would expect would mitigate any drought conditions preceding it. It's been decades since I was last out there, but to my recollection it was very muggy in the summer. The trouble is, with atmospheric warming, the air will hold much more humidity without precipitation which would make the summers all the more muggier.
Most of August and September have been very dry - not at all muggy. July was " normal", hot (but not abnormally so), muggy and with thunderstorms. The only really "normal" month of the year really - Spring has been very weird - long, wet, and cool-to-cold.
As for "winter", whereas the ground would be deep-frozen here in November. last year I was picking second-crop raspberries into almost mid-November, with the grass still green. A new world arising, ;-\
@tomgrzybow Well, you're not alone. For the past three years, Oklahoma summers have been below normal temperature, and this year was not only that but unusually wet, too. I think your summer moisture moved out here.
