A US Federal Judge ordered the release of the people DHS now plans to hold anyway, illegally under both US and International Law.

15 of the people arrested at Broadview yesterday were clergy, peacefully protesting; bringing assistance to and advocating for the downtrodden quite literally _is_ their job.

But DHS/ICE/CBP brings only lawlessness and violence.

DHS and all its components and collaborators are a clear and present danger to the American People and the US Constitution.

If they wanted to end the β€œviolence” they should start arresting ICE agents.

in reply to Cat West

@Catawu 100%. The sooner lawbreaking ice agents are put in cuffs, the sooner this gets sorted out well. Delaying only defers and amplifies the damage.

G. Gibson reshared this.

If the police are there to protect the citizens, they’d arrest the kidnappers, the unidentified thugs, and those dispersing chemicals and gasses in public spaces and those kicking in doors and especially those without the authority of warrants making arrests.
in reply to Cat West

you are completely right.

If any other group arrived into a neighborhood carrying long guns, dispersing chemical weapons, violently engaging and then taking people with no warrants nor apparent legal reason, we would dispatch SWAT, and they have the training to defuse and deescalate such situations.

Failing to do so now only defers and amplifies the consequences. Citizens left to take things into their own hands would be bad, and is inevitable unless they take action.

@Catawu
One of the reasons they're not dispatching cops is that the cops would want to support ICE. I get why mayors & governors have been reluctant to test the loyalty of their cops.

Ned Hamson reshared this.

in reply to FeralRobots

@FeralRobots @Catawu could be. Eventually that loyalty is probably gonna be clarified anyway, and might be better to do it on terms one chooses as opposed to the happenstance that simply comes about.

And finding a core element that is loyal, and willing to take the risk (and it is a big risk) may be possible.

in reply to FeralRobots

@FeralRobots I do too, but the fact is that is their sworn duty and if they don’t do it, they are useless and should be replaced.
in reply to Cat West

@Catawu @FeralRobots I am working on my next article, and so far its title is, β€œThe Case for Local Law Enforcement to Arrest Feds.”

Not sure I am doing it justice, just I am making an attempt to.

in reply to David August βŒπŸ‘‘

@Catawu
If we're talking about an ideal state, I'm with you. I just don't see a way we get to a place where that could happen in America without either several generations of change or an incredibly violent societal collapse & rebuild that's as likely as not to result in more autocracy. Because the main qualification for being in law enforcement in America is being the type of person who wants to do the kinds of thing ICE is doing, just on a less obvious scale.
in reply to FeralRobots

@FeralRobots they’ve literally trained generations of them to be violent, to hate anyone not in the blue brotherhood, and to compete for rank via violence. The training they use comes from a guy who has never served, but calls it Warrior Training. He’s made millions off it. The entire country uses his model, premises… and it leads to more violence for over 40 years.

A government agency issuing a public statement to call people "imbecilic morons."

I'm old enough to remember when people got the fucking vapors from the phrase "blow job" being used publicly in an official government proceeding.

@Axomamma we truly are. And it is as bad as we would guess.

There’s a reason 6th graders aren’t given control of the world.

If the courts order people released, the jailers hold them anyway, and they escape or are broken out , do these Orcs plan to go back to the same judge in the same courthouse begging for warrants?

I don't see that going well for them. Anyone playing any role in holding people ordered released should themselves be jailed for contempt of court, but the courts do not have any armed forces not controlled by the executive branch to carry this out. Also they probably could not "keep ICE on ice" anywhere but the courthouse cellblock.

in reply to LukefromDC

@LukefromDC β€œthe courts do not have any armed forces not controlled by the executive branch to carry this out,” isn’t quite strictly true, but yes…this gets dicey fast and can become a Constitutional crisis quickly.

holy shit, i genuinely thought this screenshot had to be faked but no. it's really there. its absolutely ABSURD that this is posted publicly, by my own goddamn government, in response to illegally detaining its own citizens.
every day that i read the news, it seems we've reached a new low. i genuinely have run out of words to express my disdain for this nation
in reply to Bowtie

@metropetrol I too thought, β€œsurely this can’t be real,” when I first heard they posted that. The flagrant disregard for the realities of the Constitution and separate but equal branches, the wanton denigration of any meaningful Justice.

It is vile and must stop.

Sure enough you expect that the administration will call these priests woke.

Everything else that you and I would recognize as basic human decency and the kind of moral sensibility you might find in some religious books about it, not stealing other people stuff for hurting them or lying about them.. that’s all a virtue for the big movers and shakers

in reply to David August βŒπŸ‘‘

despite the obvious outragous illegality & inhumanity, I first thought it has to by a bad joke, because the federal agency writes just like an 8th grade bully talks. Is this now the education lvl federal agends have? The rhethoric sure convinces me, they sweap up failures from the street and tag a badge on them. No dignity, no finesse - they make themselves look like buffons.

β€œWe lead by love. This is community. We send no orders, there’s no orders out here, just people defending each other. And we don’t need a f*cking gun to do it. We don’t need body armor to do it. We don’t need to beat up protestors, we don’t need to beat up fake news to do it. We show up, put our f*cking bodies on the line because we don’t f*ck with n*zis. Maybe one day, maybe one day, you can say the same. Community will welcome you back…”

It is unacceptable for any government official to speak to citizens this way. In a justice society there would be consequences for this type of behavior, and I have to hope that one day there will be.
in reply to "holiday" sauc3

@sauc3 there will be. The sooner the better, for everyone. Including them.

Even they need to have Justice find them soon, for as Truman Capote said, β€œThe problem with living outside the law is that you no longer have its protection.”

Courts are the most gentle form of accountability available for these folks.

The scorn that these hated paramilitary forces have for the American way of life is so palatable. Where were these militants radicalized? Were they indoctrinated at a MAGA training camp? Product of "Christian" schools?
