That would be someone's aborted 'fiber to the home' project? It is a great art project component but the glass fibers leave really deadly shards when they break.

A friend of mine picked up a spool when some McMansion tossed out a spool of multi-mode fiber when they should have ordered single-mode fiber. He tried to do neon sign kinds of things with it but very uneven leakage made for hard to read letters.

that might be worth something. It’s Corning brand. They have some exspensive fiber products.
