@The Kyiv Independent Allies is a stretch. Xi wants a war of attrition for Russia so it will help keep the war dragging for as long as possible killing as many Russians as possible so Russia becomes so weak that it can seize or gradually annex Siberia, especially lake Bikal with 1/4th the world's freshwater.

China already has de facto control over Vladivostok so yeah--and it has its eyes on India as well. India was necessarily a Russian ally because of China and I'm sure China wants a weak Russia because of India, too.
