I've been celebrating the #NewYear most of the day with the broadcast from Vienna, with a lot of #Strauss. I catch it on the radio first because at least #NPR doesn't ruin the second finale, which is the Radetzky March, while #PBS craps on it every time with rolling credits and infernal announcements.

Of course the only way to catch the visuals and historical context is to view it on PBS later in the day...however...the ballet pieces left a lot to be desired this year so I hope they change choreographer. What's with this strewn 8 1/2 by 11 papers all over the place??? Couldn't you find silk roses to toss around with the Roses From The South Waltz? Doing that with the Diplomat Waltz made sense after a fashion, but it was definitely overdone. To think you killed a tree for that.
