#ScribesAndMakers 13/9: How pedantic are you?

I just looked up pedantic. It doesn't mean exactly what I thought. I am not pedantic but perhaps people might think I am. I do not care about arbitrary rules or trivial knowledge, but I do care about language and communication. It bugs me when language is used imprecisely so that the meaning of words and phrases becomes less clear/useful. This is not pedantic.

Some of our global dialects are influenced by a change in the underlying cultures they are derived from. That is not to say that a lot of changes are not instrumental in the dumbing down of the great unwashed as our governments and corporations see it. I think this type of manipulation is described very well in 1984 by George Orwell.
