Okay I confess I've been MIA watching the Olympics. Not all the events, mind you---mainly the figure skating. Thing is, it appears that I've acquired a shine to curling. Casual viewing is not helpful in figuring out WTF is happening there, but every so often the presenters will also present an explainer, and so I developed a fascination for the physics of it, and then the strategies of the physics of it, and then translation of the lingo into plain English.
And I didn't want to pull away from the China v US match to watch John Oliver, back from a very long absence...but I managed--with remote in hand to flip back and forth between the two channels. Ahhhhh, me.... #LastWeekTonight
The Olympics likely was clue to just how lucrative the #RollingStones catalogue of music is as long as it includes the big moneymaker "Paint It Black". That was the tune that the couple disputing a French judge first won gold with then on the reprise won silver....and then a rather grand ornate orchestral arrangement of the same was utilized by a couple with Team Japan. I'm now wondering how many different arrangements for how many different purposes are running around out there; there's GOTTA be an arrangement made to be played by a high school band in a parade. GOTTA be. #PaintItBlack

While I was watching Oliver, apparently a 9th round was initiated and completed, so when I flipped back to the curling bout, the 10th and final was already in progress and was about to end, with China having the last-stone advantage. China was leading the US pretty much throughout the match. Well, folks--the U.S. took the steal and whupped China in spite of China's last stone advantage. I'm glad I tuned in just in time to see that happen.
