Inventor of earbuds: I invented these little headphones that don't have any wires
Lab assistant: nice
Inventor: they have this case to protect and charge them while not in use
Assistant: prudent!
Inventor: and when you drop the case it pops open and the earbuds fly really far in opposite directions
Assistant: why?!
Inventor: I mean, they go *really* far
Assistant: whyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I just realize who you are! I have your book ActivityPub open on my desktop right now. I love it, hope you are planning a second edition. I bought my copy from ebooks.com

Yes, the book is very helpful. I have my own Fediverse Instance, Rogue Project's Friendica I bought your book to help me understand what is going on under the hood. It would be nice to have DFRN references (hint hint) as well.
If you get time check out my Instance I would be honored to have you aboard!
