@tauon @rowb1t @OneRatOneVerySmallTrenchCoat tbh i think .social doesn’t really moderate as much as it (unintentionally) ensures cis people won’t see transfeminists or “weird” trans women like furries or whatevs unless they know where to look. it’s a very subtle nudge–you can follow TLA or Xenofem all you want, but if you just follow recommendations and popular accounts, you are certain to hear the “voice of the trans community” or the “voice of POC” from a very few select people who work in tech and never reclaim slurs or challenge mainstream USian worldviews.

I didn’t run the numbers but .social muting me when i talked shit to a male hasn’t changed at all my visibility from that instance: viral posts escape the queer spheres, normal posts stay safely outside the purview of techies
