0001 My Current Project

Few years ago I got an idea of creating a who-done-it horror story for Halloween. Things didn’t go as planned ( ̄~ ̄;). Real life distractions made me spend too much time on cooking ideas for the story instead of actually working on it. And now my simple project transformed into a well-fed monstrosity with sharp teeth and claws to keep me firmly attached to it.

I did read about feature creeping that many developers face from time to time. Especially when working on something beloved and personal. But I didn't think a text-based interactive fiction can suffer from it. Luckily, my project is way behind the point where I couldn't stop myself without damaging it.

That being said, I am still short on time I can spend to work on it. But I want to finish it. One way or another. I hope releasing my intentions to the void will help me stay focused on this desire. In that case...

I'll be back.

@Coquillage Logs

I find this to be true and it is well documented in behavioral science that when we make our intentions public we are exponentially more likely to actively work on them. I would be interested in more details if you would be inclined to share more?

I do not know if you have prior experience on the Fediverse or not? I have ran this Friendica Instance now for nearly two years. It has been an adventure though I believe I have most of the big issues resolved.

I have sent you a follow, feel free to follow back.

I was thinking of a short story where you play as an inquisitor being trapped in a magical prison with limited time to get out. Sort of like a mix of Danganronpa and Saw. There are also 4 strangers and a mysterious voice that says that all of you have to pick one for sacrifice to get out. The voice gives a hint, that one of them is responsible for them being trapped. So the player needs to deduct who it it. Also, the culprit is randomly chosen, and even the player may end up being the culprit.

@Unus Nemo Because I decided to make a random culprit which will have his/her own reasons on every playthrough, it became more complicated 😅. So far I see 13 possible endings. But I don’t want to cut it out now that I envisioned them all. Although, I don’t want players to feel obliged to replay it so many times. So I hope one play-through will be satisfying enough.
