Actually Robin is right and as is typical the majority is out of touch with reality. Just ask Galileo.

Every country listed has had either a dictator, emperor or president etc during their claim of communism or socialism and note that a lot of those in the line up never claimed to be socialists, they claimed to be communist there is a huge difference.

I can call myself a duck but I am still a human being, period. These regions may have called themselves communist or socialists but they did not meet the definition any more than I meet the definition of a duck.

The meme is a total fail and an example of people's assurance in Truth by Consensus.

Have a great day!

@Unus Nemo @Eh Eye Ate Dub Yah ✡︎ Socialism ruled Belgium (Where I am) for a very long time and they gave us social security and healthcare and advanced research in medics, workers rights, a mutuality for medical things, A network of social Restaurants where each pays low price based on his income and is by far Communist so the distinction indeed must be made here. It changed to central right and all changed all of the sudden, anyway those same socialists outcast extreme left or near Communist.
But again Socialism means something else in each Nation you go yet remains distinctive from Communism.

It is a well known issue that a professor of political science made the argument that neither communism nor socialism have ever actually been implemented at any era on our world. They sited the reason why countries claiming to be just did not meet the criteria. Though many had some of the qualities of these forms of governance none came close to an actual implementation. They all fell drastically short by implementing ideologies that are to disparate from the doctrine to consider it to be a legitimate example of that political science governance.

The statement that there has never been a communism or socialism is quite accurate. To merely give examples of countries that claim to adhere to these doctrines and observably do not as evidence is not reasonable. In fact only two of these seven (29%) regions even claimed to be socialists at all. Laotians - Communist Republic, Chinese Communist Republic, North Korea Communist Republic, Cambodia Communist Republic, Cuba Communist Republic, Russia Socialist Republic, Venezuela Socialist Republic

I would state with confidence that this meme is a total fail. It gives no supporting evidence and what it does offer is inaccurate and out of context.

@Unus Nemo Socialism did in EU not only Belgium as well Germany and many other countries. They did rue EU at a certain point a decade or more ago even. My distinction is rather about Communism as far left and socialism for the good of the people.
Something I can not imagine in USA nor any American can think about it as you never had it, EU did.

I would disagree, yes there are countries that stated they were or are socialist or communist but they do not meet the actual description in the doctrine of those governance forms.

It would be more accurate to state that elements of these governance have been implemented in a hybrid form with other ideologies mixed in then to try to make the claim that they have been implemented. For instance in America we have a Democratic Republic that has elements of Socialism in it and always has. Some people like to call us a Republic, which we are and so is China, in reality it requires more distinction than a single ideology suggests. Sadly some people are more interested in what they want to believe is real than they are in reality.

Capitalism is a economic system and not a political ideology. I know so many people like to confuse it as such, and they are wrong. Capitalism is not intrinsically tied to any one governance though certain doctrine of political ideology would certainly prohibit it. Socialism is not a political ideology that prohibits capitalism. It would prohibit unfettered capitalism. Communism would prohibit any economics as everything belongs to everyone so economics in that governance form is nonsensical.

It is a common misconception that capitalism is a form of governance in the way the word is commonly misused.

in reply to Unus Nemo

@Unus Nemo They don't use that word but act as such even being caught of corruption scandals over time.. But in any case the climate in EU about politics is right centered currently, more capitalistic in the case of Belgium and less corrupt whatever party reigns we just have to wait a few years. Hold on to 2028 elections rounds in EU and France's Presidency. A year earlier I think. It will be outright extreme right reigning mark my words. As hateful that I find it I can not do anything about it.. After central sanitize the people's rights and healthcare and so forth they will all turn to sole option the right. Many people lost their income as workless now it;s limited in time they are subject to heavy stress to get a job or they will have 0 euro revenue, then the controls on the sick as well this turns a populace to vote or extreme left or extreme right and the latter is most probable.
You can compare whole EU now as in 1938 Germany

@Eh Eye Ate Dub Yah ✡︎ Currently if you are interested in Belgian politics it's the Separatist Flemish Nationalist so central right that choose to make a coalition with the socialist instead of far right.
From French community side it is Liberal party, but pro Zionist of course and somehow an equivalent to a more agro central right.
Now there only concern because of this stupid Ukraine War is get the cash to arm somehow, delusional I know.. and get into line of GBP NAto and also the EU Debts, so they strip our rights away as workers rights and soon it will be my turn the sick. Iran war projects a 3 times more gas price to heat next winter.. Inflation and basic product prices have risen while our paycheck not.

I believe that internal Belgian politics should solely be the purview of the Belgians.

I don't want to interfere in Belgian politics to the same degree that I don't want citizens of other countries interfering in U.S. politics.

Let the Belgians do inside their own country what the Belgians are going to do inside their own country.

If the Belgian government's actions adversely affect other countries, then those countries should respond in kind. If the Belgian government's actions adversely affect the U.S., then the U.S. should respond in kind.

I'm not saying the U.S. hasn't had its fingers where they don't belong... I'm saying the U.S. SHOULDN'T have its fingers in other countries' internal politics.

To paraphrase: I'm not Belgian, so internal Belgian politics are none of my frelling business.

in this topic here point was about you comparing communism as socialism.
I knew you would not care, this was just a side example of socialism before and now and the difference of it not being communist. You miss the point.

Have a great day anyway, bye
