I used to do that (southern California).

Past few years, there's either been no rain, or if there was, no worms to save.

Just like there's no birds singing anymore, other than the neighborhood Crows at sunset when they fly together to go sleep, and the singular, lonely, hummingbird that eats from the red flowers in my yard.

No idea what they will do come the rain...*insert "weary" and "exasperated" emoji here*
