In the UK we call the one on the right a 'work horse'. Was very confused for a moment.

Thank you for the AltText, I didn’t know the term for the wooden one (in German it’s a sawbuck; dict says that is also possible in English).

There's an added layer of confusion should you say "sawbuck" in reference to a saw horse because in some parts of the English speaking world, a sawbuck is a 10 dollar bill.

My dad’s a joiner & he has always called the latter a trestle … so it didn’t immediately make sense!

But then I read the alt text & it all became clear! 😆

@Steffi Can I ask how you see the alt text? If I hover over the image I see the first few words but not all of it. Apologies if this is obvious and I'm the only person on Mastodon who doesn't know!

@RyanE @Steffi I couldn’t tell you. I use an app on my phone and the altText comes up in full when I view the image. I’m not sure how to see it on a browser. Sorry.

@RyanE @Steffi (possibly useful data points)
Vivaldi browser on linux: click on the image, hover over the popup, and the whole ALT text appears for me

Tusky app on android: tap on image, ALT text is at bottom, usually have to pull up the ALT text window to see it all

@gregor @Steffi Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Sadly, it still doesn't work for me.

If I click the Alt button it acts like I've clicked on the image (it's like the button doesn't actually exist at all). If I click the image and then hover over the alt text popup it is still cut off after a few words. Clicking the ... in the popup does nothing. I'm using a Chrome browser. Never mind, it doesn't crop up much anyway 😄

Alt text is revealed by hovering over the image but it can be picky about where over the image you've hovered. I've had it happen that I found the sweet spot by accident, rolled right by it, and the Alt text decided to not come out again...until several minutes later.
