Individual sailors and soldiers who destroyed boat Tuesday may have committed war crimes.

"'โ€ฆzero evidence of self-defenseโ€ฆLooks like a massacre of civilians at sea,' according to Adam Isacson, director for defense oversight atโ€ฆWashington Office on Latin America. 'Even ifโ€ฆdrugs aboardโ€ฆnot a capital offense.'"

Lethal force against civilians in international waters 'is a war crime if not in self-defense,โ€ according to Isacson."

That is an interesting read. And yes, I agree that normalising the missile attack on a ship in international waters is a slippery slope.

@claralistensprechen5th if heโ€™s thought about it at all, I think youโ€™re right. He seems to assume anything he does is a-ok because he did it; that is simply not the case.

could be. I think there may be specific criteria for what is a crime against humanity, though I donโ€™t know off the top of my head what they are, this feels like it could be in that realm.

If journalists would just stop use question headlines, and move to statement headlines, we might actually slow or stop this monster.

Yes he would sue the "Trump committed war crimes" headline. So What. Discovery is a beautiful thing.

The point this leads, which I haven't seen fully articulated yet, is that if they get away with this, it is not a leap to designating anyone, anywhere, a 'terrorist' or drug smuggler, including ourselves, in our homes or at work, and without trial, executing us via drone or satellite, and if our country backs down, it will just be the end of peace and security planet-wide.
