When you just lost many, many hours of work... irretrievable despite trying every fix... then you just say, "fuck it. I'll redo all the work, and do it even better this time. because that's who I am."

Mine was a Geo-Jigsaw episode. Somehow the project got corrupted. Audio all there, but scattered. After spending four or more hour with Chat Gee-Pity, I figured... record the whole damn thing over again, and put in all the sound effects again.
Lesson to me: always export an mp3 backup of the audio when you finish your work.
Bright side... I got more and more of a sense of how Chat Gee-Pity works.

Just wondering, does your software require mp3? Ogg/opus is a lot more efficient, but hey if your software cannot use it ...

Interesting... I know nothing about ogg/opus, but that's what K3b is set to when I burn CD mixes and whatnot. So I have to switch it to mp3.
I'm kindergarten level to understanding much computer stuff... though there are sporadic stuff I get to know well.

When burning a CD it will all be transcoded to native bit stream. When ripping a CD if you transcode to Ogg/opus you will save a lot of space. To do this with K3b:
Step 1: In a terminal (CLI)
sudo dnf install opus-tools
Step 2:
Configure the External Encoder in K3bOpen K3b and go to Settings --> Configure K3b... --> Plugins.
Find K3b External Audio Encoder in the list, make sure it is checked, and click its Configure (wrench/screwdriver) icon.
Click Add... to define a new encoder profile:
Encoder name: Opus
Extension: opus
Command: opusenc --bitrate 160 --artist %a --album %m --title %t --tracknumber %n - %f
Click OK / Apply.
Step 3: Rip to Opus
When you insert an Audio CD and click Start Ripping:
Under the Settings tab, open the File type dropdown.
Select Opus (External Audio Encoder).
Adjust your destination folder and metadata naming pattern as usual, then start the rip.

This is the script I use, it requires cdparanoia and opus-tools to work. I may have added a few comments for your benefit.

Funny... I "bashed" so many scripts into the Linux via what Chat Gee-Pity gave me to recover the corrupted project, maybe my brain absorbed some of it subliminally... probably not, but still... 🤣

If you prefer a version that can autoname the ripped files by song name and clean up after itself I can share that with you too.
