Anyone know who this is? they visited my book page in a Boston MA park. I think hemipetra? Idk. are they a local? they are very small it can’t be a roach they have wings despite being tiny.
@myrmepropagandist It's hard to say without a better picture. You can rule out beetle or Box Elder Bug type. It better resembles a member of the Lygaeus genus but not exactly. Telling us the location of where this was found would be helpful.
@myrmepropagandist @Ambulocetus Common name: Milkweed Bug and it's that for a reason--it's only on milkweeds. I've got hundreds of 'em over here, so I know that's not it. The bug in question resembles the build of one, but so does the Box Elder Bug and it's not even in the same family. The search continues.
@myrmepropagandist I kept on looking and now Ima give up. I tried looking up the Boisea family and all that was produced was Box Elder Bugs, Assassin Bugs and Stinkbugs....and it's not any of those. Well--good luck! You might ask the Ag people at your County Extension office.
