Some people have written like TEN books. Madness. How.

I actually inquired about this thing a while ago, myrmepropagandist. I learned that most of these people who write books, hire writers to write it for them. The book writer will usually ask these people a bunch of questions, and just turn their answers into many words…

@Rory

So you believe that Issac Asimov, Anne McCaffrey, Robert Asprin, George R. R. Martin, Virginia C. Andrews, Mark Twain, ... and so many more just hired other writers?

I thought Rory was joking? Maybe?

(To be clear I'm just moaning and groaning.)

I do not know Rory, you could be right, that is why I asked whether they really believed that. I do not like to jump to conclusions.

In my experience the way authors write so many books is to have good back stories written up about their main characters. Then they can expand upon the reality (world) their characters live in without taking their characters out of context (character) and keep the story interesting. The the many hats analogy PhDog makes is viable in some cases.

My first took nearly 8 years from idea to published. The next 14 all happened in the span of 4 years. Aside from one that I pulled kicking and screaming out just to end a series, I've written nothing in the six years since. So I guess to answer how for me: hyperfixation.
