THE X-RAY EYES (1963) βοΈπ§ͺ
This week we're visiting Dr. James Xavier who is working on enhancing ocular power - even to see through clothes. He's concerned that his funding will be lost from a consortium of middle school boys. While he works on his formula, we'll work on ours.

we will be watching
X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes (1963)
"Intent on enhancing mankind's ocular ability, the brilliant Dr. James Xavier (Ray Milland) invents a formula that allows him to see wavelengths of light outside the normal human spectrum. When his funding is suddenly threatened, Xavier tests the formula on himself despite the protests of his colleague Dr. Diane Fairfax (Diana Van der Vlis). While the formula proves initially useful in a variety of minor tasks, Xavier soon finds himself able to see things that no man was meant to see."

Yes!! He has an element of creepiness always, but what if this movie allows him to turn it up? I am at once excited and fearful.

in reply to Joe Watching β½ποΈπ΄πΊ • •At this writing, I've finished watching it and yes, Rickles was a creepy hustler. But I was wondering what it was that Rickles saw in the script that made him think that making this movie was a good idea, so I sat all the way through the credits, and saw another big name: Les Baxter did the music; Baxter is associated with Bing Crosby's brother David, and as it happens, photography was credited to one Floyd Crosby--don't know if that one's related but given the other Crosby link, I strongly suspect so. This was no ordinary B movie--not with those A-listers involved.

It's a wonderful rabbit hole to go down, to be sure. There are other technical A-listers to be found, like the guy listed as "consultant". The name "John Howard" is none other than THE John C. Howard who invented the "Spectarama" visual special effects representing what was seen in the eyeball of the man in question.
Turns out Les Baxter got drawn in to a number of different horror/B movies simply because he became a thereminist under the tutelage of the premier theremin expert of the era, Dr. Samuel J. Hoffman AND was maestro on THE Moog synthesizer.
This movie was cutting edge at the time--no small potatoes, that.
