I’m glad #monsterdon finally got me to watch Forbidden Planet. It would have been so much better without the shoehorned-in love story and the sexism and the “comic relief” drinking, but it appears to be one of the great granddaddies of all sci-fi.

It even included its own racist bigot in the cast, too--the fellow who would become an infamous governor of Alabama. Wasn't surprised that Earl Holliman was the one who pulled off the comic relief. That's exactly the right guy to do that.
