That is the command I used directly on the CLI, I did not write a bash script. You can see my desktop because I have my terminal (ptyxis) setup with a transparent background.

Unfortunately the default ptyxis does not have transparency enabled, you have to adjust a gnome setting to allow transparency. Though once you have set it once, it will show up in the preferences and you do not have re-enable it to change the value. There are instructions on the projects gitlab page on how to setup transparency.
