I'm buying apples at my local produce market & saw they had on a Spanish speaking station with extensive coverage of the #ICE raids.

I don't speak Spanish, but I saw multiple videos of brutal arrests. That had an impact on me, maybe other customers too.

Since most of our produce is picked by immigrant labor, showing customers this is a smart move, esp since most of us are in our news & social media bubbles.

I asked clerk what station, she said it was Telemundo.

This is exactly why fascists are winning. Not even self-perceived progressive Americans are aware of the depths of their own ignorance about their own food supply, the culture of their neighbours, nor anything else that genuinely matters on a human level. Only varying shades of white supremacy, in a nutshell.

Checking in as one gringo who isn't that ignorant--as soon as I heard about tariffs against Mexico I started shopping more often at the local hispanic market. They've got better produce than the big box stores anyway, so there's that.

Telemundo is the original network from which MSNBC's José Díaz-Balart came, and unfortunately for the English speaking U.S., went back to. Not sure if that's getting spun off by Paramount the same way MSNBC is.
