Columbus Ohio Library BookFest

Yet another scorcher in Columbus, but got out early and tried out a new coffee shop/cafe near East Market that was amazing. Great space, good coffee (I asked for a cortado and they made if properly, unlike most places where they just serve you a latte in a smaller cup) and the locally made baked goods were amazing! The neighborhood really needs more businesses like that.
Then on to the all-weekend-long Columbus Library book fair. Huge crowds and an amazing number of vendors for such a miserably hot day. Sad to admit, our first visit to the library in the nearly 10 years we've been in Columbus, but we now have plenty of reasons to go back!
A few more errands then home before the 'lets turn the humidity up to 11' popup showers hit...

@Unus Nemo I really like libraries for the same reason I like a good record store -- that sense of discovery and serendipity in finding new things I had no idea I was interested in (or about to become interested in).

I also tend to "buy and hold" books (and records) and return to them periodically. That is what makes the curation part important.

I agree, most of my dead tree books are well vetted. Though I do tend to buy a lot of books by Indie Authors. I get those in e-books. I used to have a large record collection though a house fire cost me that collection. I mostly rely on streaming today.

New here

Originally tried out an account on friendica.world but it was very crashy and I frequently go not further than a series of HTTP 500 error rather than to actual content. Hoping for better luck here....

@rc7r

Your experience here will have nothing to do with luck. Ruud is a friend of mine and I appreciate all the effort he puts into friendica.world though the volume of users on his Instance is a constant strain. I cannot promise you that there will be no issues here, as I am sure there certainly will be. Though they should be the exception and not the rule.

Welcome to Rogue Project Friendica! Let me know if you need anything.
