Orwell was an awesome critical thinker. He understood the ideologies behind linguistics. In forensic linguistics we can tell that a historical society lacked a certain belief or even consideration of that belief due to their having no words in their language to identify or describe that belief. In '1984' he introduced the idea of a culture removing words from their society to force them to think along the terms the ruling factor wanted them to. If you have not read '1984' I highly recommend it.

In the near future I will be acquiring a VPS with more resources than the one that Rogue Project Friendica is hosted on at this time. I am not certain of exactly when though it will happen on a weekend. The move should be uneventful and transparent (hopefully). Though, when it is time I will be letting everyone know so they can backup their personal data if they feel a need to. The Instance will be down for a brief period of time while I backup and move the database to the new VPS. This should not take too long. I will keep you advised.
note: This means I will have to update my domain information that can take some time to propagate. Though in my experience it usually will not take all that long.
Have a great day!

Thanks a lot! I now have INTERCAL-72 (and the requisite spitbol) installed on my system. I am sure they will both come in useful. 😉
Instance Back Up
People keep asking, "when will they fix it?" But the answer is, we are them, they are us!
Power, laws, and systems only work because we believe in them. The world won’t change by waiting. Real change begins when we stop sleeping through injustice and realize we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Are You Helping to Propagate BS?
Do Not Propagate BS
It always amazes me when I watch people vehemently oppose a post they disagree with. Even when they do not know the poster or anyone on the post. I do not think they truly understand what they are doing. They are making that post they disagree with more popular and ensuring (or at least contributing to the assurance) that it will have a wider propagation across the Fedi.
Priority of what gets most rapidly spread across the Fedi is governed by several metrics and it is not standardized between the different Instance types either. Though one critical metric will always speed a post across the Fedi and that is reactions. The more reactions a post has the quicker it will propagate. It does not matter if that is positive or negative reactions. It only matters that post got attention. Make no mistake, a comment is considered a reaction. Even if you do not click a Thumbs up or Thumbs down you are reacting by commenting.
So if you are tired of seeing posts you find ridiculous maybe you should start ignoring them instead of boosting them by reacting to them.

Culling of Inactive Members
Culling Inactive Members
I have began deleting accounts that have had no activity for 3 month. In some cases less if it appears the account was established for the purpose of spamming (marketing) the Instance. I have set a cap to the max users before registration closes. To be sure that the Instance stays viable within my budget. As I have stated before if the Instance appears to be able to handle more users than the current cap I will raise the ceiling.
I do not expect that a user has to post everyday or even weekly to be considered active. Though I have to draw the limit somewhere. I decided that a quarter of a year of inactivity was a pretty fair limit. If you are going to be offline for an extended period of time and not sure that you will be able to login then let me know and I will make sure to preserve your account.
