I have been asked about tips and donations by some members and to be honest I never even considered it. I setup this Instance so that I would have a reliable access to a Friendica Instance on the Fediverse. I felt no need to be selfish with this so I have opened it up to the public so others can also appreciate the Fediverse. I have very few restrictions only that people be polite, No Strictly Marketing Accounts, No Bot Accounts (without approval) and of course that no one uses this Instance for anything illegal. I support the entire project myself. From the cost of the VPS (Virtual Private Server) to the time spent in Administration and Maintenance. I have no problem doing this and this service will remain free.
With that said I will not turn down donations or tips if you feel Rogue Project Friendica is worth it and you can afford it (do not spend money you do not have). Keep in mind that I get by just fine and the tip or donation would be extra. This Instance is in no danger of shutting down if I do not get help. This is merely if you can afford it and would like to help out. For those of you that may feel like tipping or donating I have setup a Ko-Fi account.
