Was sorely tempted to buy a new graphics card just now. It would have stretched my finances for a while, but I'd been waiting for the new AMD Radeon 9000 series to come out and one turned up in stock that met my criteria.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), the internet made the decision for me, it was out of stock before I decided to push the button.
It's hard to say this, but science (& research more generally) is just being **stopped** in the US right now. This is just one university, losing nearly a billion dollars in project funding pretty much overnight. That's people's jobs, and the research that could save lives.

Ein Alkoholtest ergab einen Wert von 0,56 Promille. Zudem zeigte er Anzeichen für Drogenkonsum. Ein Drogentest bestätigte den Eindruck und reagierte positiv auf Amphetamin. Im Zuge weiterer Überprüfungen wurde festgestellt, dass gegen den Mann derzeit ein Fahrverbot besteht. Zudem wurden in seiner Jacke ein Schlagring sowie ein Plastikpäckchen mit rund 3 Gramm Amphetamin gefunden."

But I also knit lots of hats and socks as a mindless fidget activity, and I do wear those!

Instead of just wearing it wrapped around like some 'old spinster woman' cartoon, I learned that if i gave the wrapping end a half-twist in the front before securing it with a cool shawl pin, it was really beautiful and stylin'. (To do that, I start with giving the 'wrapping end' a little more length when positioning the shawl accross my shoulders and back to start.)

And with my hair long as it is these days (it was very short, pre-WFH), wearing a shawl or scarf for any length of time causes a terrible snarl at the nape of my neck.
