@Harib Murshidi friendica is the connective tissue of the fediverse. it doesn't just speak activitypub like mastodon or pixelfed, it speaks activitypub AND diaspora AND ostatus AND its own dfrn protocol all at the same time, plus it has official connectors for bluesky and tumblr and even rss feeds. so one friendica account can follow a mastodon user, a diaspora pod, a pixelfed account, a bluesky handle, and a blog, and all of it shows up in the same timeline. no other platform does that natively. mastodon only does activitypub. diaspora only does diaspora. friendica does all of them. that's why it's called the universal connector. as for reach, the friendica network itself is small, around 270 to 410 active servers with roughly 16,000 to 21,000 registered users depending on the tracker, so it's niche. but the point was never friendica's own user count. the point is that a friendica node can see and interact with the entire fediverse, and one node on the network reports being aware of over 45,000 servers and 24 million registered users across all connected platforms. so friendica is small but it's the widest window into everything else.
