Those teachers who insisted "write the way you speak" were full of shit. I've obeyed, but despite decades of successful public speaking, technical reviews and presentations, and instruction in several fields, my "like you speak" writing is misunderstood or tone-policed erroneously on a daily basis!

Can someone please explain to me how the credit bureaus can show that I have "Grade A" standing in *EVERY* one of their categories, but somehow, my credit is "Fair", which translates to "You can't get a lot of loans at all, and the ones you can will have usurous rates!"

So... 1st, the Supreme Court ruled that Presidents can't break the law. Next, the incoming regime began illegally attacking/impeaching judges for trying to enforce laws they broke. Now the SC issues toothless proclamations that 'you can't do that', while wondering when their time will come...

So here's a question. When RFKJr's tenure at HHS starts killing people, should we blame *him*, or the people who nominated and approved him?

I feel like crazy people usually get leniency, so maybe the answer is "Everyone Else Involved"...

I feel like there should be a law that says if you sell something claiming it's safe, and it kills a bunch of people, you should, I don't know, be held responsible in some way?

Not for nothing, but if it's possible for an online service to "go down", then it really isn't decentralized, is it?

PSA: You can write T-SQL, C#, and VB.NET code, unless you have to work on all 3 simultaneously, each to its own monitor. In that case, you really can't write T-SQL, C#, *or* VB.NET code.

Persnickety frustration #4137: People who write the "sad/failed trumpet" sound, which sounds phonetically like "Waaaa Waaaa Waaaa" as "Womp Womp".

Dude, you've got the wrong onomatopoeia...

So listen, Catholics, just a thought: Now that your CEO position is open, you have an opportunity to change. Why don't you get together, sell off the church's $75,000,000,000 in assets, and *actually* give something to the poor, instead of just offering them scraps in return for good religiousness?

How, exactly, did MS come to the conclusion that only letting users move files with a dangerous-sounding "Cut" option was better than leaving the 30-yr-tested "Move" option in context menus?

1st rule of software improvement: Don't fuck up the stuff that works because you want to add a new feature!

The Trump regime has ignored both the other branches of our government and our constitution. It's acting against all three, and states publicly it intends to continue.

What's the term for a government that is run by one person, unaccountable to anyone else?

Of course, this will eventually have been what the Trump regime was planning the whole time. Never mind the obvious stupidity of the action and immediate frenzied pushback even from Trump supporters. That had nothing to do with it...

@Trevorgoodchild it looks like there might be but you have to go into a second dialog.

one thing i am trying to figure out though is i think if you give an app notifications it changes how it behaves in sleep, which is the real reason some of these apps want notifications.

For nearly a decade, I told people that cars that spy on you, require internet access/tracking data, may be updated (or bricked) at any moment, and have door handles that won't let anyone save you if you're unconscious are a bad bet, and the left told me to shut up...

@corruptian I think you want to believe that, but if you'll look at the facts and the track-record, you'd have to agree this is exactly the current regime's incompetent style...

Hard to tell. He has a totally different management style to what is normal in DC, but sometimes this disruptive fast take approach works well.
