I have been fighting with #bookwyrm as a solution to recording my #reading and #book data. It is a little #disappointing. I want to use it, but for me (mass importing of data) it is too time consuming going through hundreds of entries that are either "slightly" different from what currently exists on the service, or is not on any instance networked and therefore throw up import errors.
Thing is, you look at what you've got and think: "That's correct data there, I've checked against multiple sources and all the names, authors and ISBNs are correct. Why can't I just push a button and import it all? I mean it's better than what is being suggested to me at present. Why is that <random book> appearing six times on my list against book I know are okay?"
A morning wasted. I don't need a solution, I have an alternative that isn't #goodreads or bookwyrm. But you try and support or use something and it's... It's like me having to recompile a Linux v2.2 kernel to get USB support around 2000-2001.

It all worked out. The #anxiety turned into a solid plan that kept me on time on track and on course. I got what I needed. It didn't cost quite as much as I #feared. I still have #energy left and I wasn't #exhausted physically or #mentally (though I did have to stop and regroup a couple of times).
Small wins.
I had an insanely good #coffee, and hammered out about 4 pages worth of thoughts. BY HAND. Writing by hand is #liberating. If you keep your #writing "reasonably" neat you can OCR it into a digital document later. Well, I OCR it. Very useful.

Or any year.
I've been disillusioned for the better part of the last 30 years. I do not want to "engage" with 'Big P' Politics, or 'small p' politics.
I'm struggling to get support and services for the injuries I suffered from a stroke. You know, typing and using your hands, not being perpetually exhausted, being able to see things in focus, not being over-stimulated by movement or sound (autistic readers are nodding sagely round about now...). It's taking up a lot of my mental time, energy and strength just surviving.
As a wise man once said, "I'm too old for this shit".
I may post some writing if I'm not feeling shy.

I have started writing. It's not for anyone. It's a process. Words on a page, either typed or scrawled for me alone.
Maybe there is an audience, a reader outside my skull? I don't know yet.

If you have any connection errors these will be useless, and impossible to search for.
Although "wall" is named "online-wall" there isn't a web accessible way of getting to wall. It does however have AI for no discernable reason. So that's good.

in reply to Extreme Electronics • • •So, Powershell won't let you remove an old module with power shell, you need to delete the modules in the file system.
I need to do this because Powershell will continue to use the old module, even if there is a newer one installed as well.
These are all fixed problems in any other scripting language.

in reply to Extreme Electronics • • •I feel like powershell security concerns make it impossible to use in the way I would typically use a shell… notably, the fact it can’t run scripts unless they’re either signed or you manually enable a flag (which defeats the point of scripting, somewhat) - I wouldn’t care except that if I was being malicious, I’d just build an exe that it will most likely run without such issues!
There’s probably other issues but this is the point I noped out of it years ago…
