This is of course blatantly false. Norway and Denmark were overrun by the enormous military forces of the Nazis and Sweden claimed neutrality, yes, but for 5 years, Norway and Denmark had fierce resistance movements fighting the Nazis under the direction and aid of Great Britain, while Sweden helped train fighters and hid the jews.
and, Norwegian resistance fighters made life utterly miserable for NAZI occupiers. All of the occupied nations did, but the Norwegians rivaled the Greeks and the French. It utterly disgusts me when people ignorant of history attempt to portray propaganda as history.
Let's forget about the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, and the fact that Stalin and the communists actively suppressed religion in Russia and everywhere else they set foot.

In "Christian" Russia dissidents are thrown out of windows, poisoned, or imprisoned. There is no free press. Ukrainian children are kidnapped and trained to hate their own country. It's one of the most evil countries in the world.

Honestly, historians haven’t done enough over the last 80 years to discuss the contributions of resistance fighters. As an historian, I have a lot of complaints about WWII historiography. It’s all about Normandy and Stalingrad. Except for the gripping stories about Dunkirk, very little discusses the sacrifices that the British made for five years, one of which was pretty much alone. During that year from May 1940, when the French capitulated until June 1941, when the Germans invaded the USSR, the only real assistance Britain had on the ground were the resistance fighters. Those brave souls in occupied countries probably saved Great Britain until the Russians and Americans could join.
@CAman not that it can compete with history books, but I love that there are several good movies about what transpired. The Norwegian movie Max Manus comes to mind.
So when former members of the Danish and Norwegian Resistance lay wreaths at cenotaphs all over North America every November in honour of their fallen comrades in the Resistance, who does Bannon think they represent.

"Christian Nation" is an oxymoron; thanks to Constantine, the idea that a nation (at that time "nation" meant "kingdom") could also be "christian" was introduced which essentially negates the teachings of Jesus as found in the canonical gospels and the writings of Paul (Saul of Tarsus) which are essentially antithetic to the principle of human soverignty.
Denmark and Norway were also Christian nations, last I knew. Or have they reverted to paganism after seeing what this so-called Christianity degenerated into in Russia and the USA?
@ArtHarg Bannon is lying about the religion of countries which have Christian crosses embedded in their flags, where Christian state churches are everywhere, and one of the most used king's names is literally "Christian".
I have a good, smart friend, who unfortunately keeps confusing AI as it is with AI SciFi potential. So he is an enthusiast and he does like to use stories of how ChatGPT helped him be aware of several possible solutions for problems at work. Very technical stuff for repairs. He doesn't credit the original authors of whatever ChatGPT is quoting.
His new thing when he hears about how much people don't like AI is a somewhat resigned, somewhat smug, "fine, get left behind then".
my point is, I think I have seen indications among AI enthusiasts that "get left behind then" is their response to the overwhelming unpopularity of this product/gimmick being forced on people. It is the counter revolution answer to the "WE DON'T WANT IT!" revolution.
A little angry, a little smug, but at least it accepts that forcing it on people is wrong.
I think he is wrong. AI as it is now doesn't have a process for evolving on its own and the cognitive gap is bigger than people think. But, he is a good friend and person, and if he finds it useful, I feel no need to try and take that away from him.
If I am wrong, maybe the world will evolve faster, which could be a good thing. And I have no problem with potential machine intelligence.
I'm similar to your friend in that I actually like and use AI in places it doesn't matter.
But I'm not nearly deluded enough to think of it as anything drastic or to even tolerate the idea that the "AI REevolution" is going to benefit anyone other than a few tech CEOs and a few hobbiest coders.
