I think many people misunderstand the purpose of code review. The purpose of code review is not for the reviewer to find bugs, and certainly not for them to ensure that the code is bug-free. Anyone who depends on code review to find bugs is living in a fool's paradise. As everyone should know by now, it is not in general possible to find bugs by examining the code.
The primary purpose of code review is to find code that will be _hard to maintain_. The reviewer looks at the code and tries to understand what it is doing and how. If they can't, that means it will be hard to maintain in the future, and should be fixed now, while the original author is still familiar with it.
@ShadSterling Tests need to be written effectively for them to be meaningful. Too many devs simply want to make the tests green, even if it means not actually testing the case it's meant to. I'll catch these in code reviews because it's going to have an impact for anyone working with that code in the future hoping that the tests will catch breakages.
I really like this framing of it. When I’m doing a code review of someone else’s code, my most common request is for an explanation and a comment of non-obvious code. I’m not terribly good at finding bugs in other people’s code.
But I’ve always found the best code reviews are the ones where the author explains what they’re doing. When I try to verbalize my approach to someone else, I’m the one that finds the bugs in my work, and realize what is or isn’t maintainable. For very complicated systems, we always had a policy of pre-review (author explains the cl to a small audience or lead) and then a general review for anyone interested in the change.
And if the code author can't clearly answer the questions that come up during the review, it also indicates even they don't understand it well enough for it to pass the review.
From experience: there are several people who are scary good at finding bugs through code review. Several major data corruptions in gefs, issues in git9, and other scattered issues were found by reading and asking questions.
Did it find everything? Of course not. But it did a good job of finding issues early.

I’ve spent the better part of two decades dealing with people trying to dox and harass the volunteers who make Wikipedia the incredible resource it is today.
I spent six years on the same (volunteer!) Arbitration Committee from which Oversight is now demanding private communications. Even just threats like this one, regardless of followthrough, will it so much harder for them to do their thankless work.

Well-connected person whom I trust was just telling me that he’s personally talked to 4 Canadians who in recent weeks have had US CBP demand to look through their phones and on the basis of phone content been turned back and handed 5-year entry bans. Three of the 4 were at Vancouver airport. These people are not taking their story to media because they don’t want to draw attention to their employers.
Sad thing is, as an American in a border state (VT), I’m turned off from visiting Canada now, because I’ve no interest in interacting with US CBP on the way back.

Once you have it sync what you need to it for duration of your stay then wipe it to factory before you return it and head home.
