NEW | Human Rights Group seeks to prosecute Britons who fought for Israel
The International Center for Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) has filed an application in a UK magistrates court to launch a private prosecution against a British personnel who unlawfully joined Israel’s military.
The ICJP says that British nationals who fought for the Israeli occupation army violated the Foreign Enlistment Act of 1870, which prohibits UK citizens from serving in a foreign army engaged in war with a state that is at peace with Britain, in this case, Palestine, now recognized by the UK.
The group says it has gathered evidence against more than ten Britons but is withholding names to protect the case.
